Murchison suicide bombing[edit]

Thanks for this interesting addition. Do you think the incident should also be added to Terrorism in New Zealand?-gadfium 19:21, 17 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Pleasure. Adding it to terrorism in New Zealand wouldn't be a clear-cut thing, as the various definitions of terrorism may or may not cover this particular incident. I'd put the query on the talk page of that article, and if anybody has any objections, they can voice them. I thought The Press article was a good read; I've also added this to suicide attack. making a new page/article[edit]

Brother please say me that how can i open a new page/article Moahmmad Zahid Hasan (talk) 03:32, 18 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The best way to do this for a new editor is to use the Wikipedia:Article wizard. Schwede66 03:57, 18 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Even in my childhood (after her death) she was referred to (in the North Island) as Nurse Maude so why the fuss over the name? The full name is the least honour she deserves. Eddaido (talk) 07:44, 18 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not fussed; I simply wasn't sure about the naming conventions. When I'm sure about something, I simply move an article. When I'm not sure, I go through the formal move request, which takes between one and two weeks. Not a big deal in the scheme of things. Schwede66 08:27, 18 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Rocketlabs[edit]

Good morning, I recently added a criticism section to the Rocketlab page. It looks like you removed it entirely. Can you talk me why? I've noticed criticism sections on many other pages. Thank you Wdmtaj (talk) 13:05, 19 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Wdmtaj: Wikipedia is an encyclopaedia based on five pillars. I've posted a welcome message on your talk page, and you will find a link to the five pillars. Your entry violated the verifiability requirement, as you posted criticism without also giving reliable sources. Put simply, you can't do that. There may not have been anything wrong with the criticism that you added to the page, but you need reliable sources to back that up. If you find those statements in The New Zealand Herald, that would be good. A blog would not meet the requirements of a reliable source. Feel free to ask further questions. Schwede66 18:18, 19 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Schwede66, I re-did my Criticism section with references this time. The references were from the company website and wikipedia, so I thougt they would be acceptable. Can you let me know why you deleted my section again? Thanks. wdmtaj — Preceding unsigned comment added by Wdmtaj (talkcontribs) 21:53, 20 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't delete your contribution; have a look at the 'View history' tab to find out who did. Schwede66 00:03, 21 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Moving of rugby union player to rugby union or rugby player to rugby union[edit]

Hi Schwede,

Thought I would drop you note to alert you to certain conventions you may be unaware of. I understand that there is a discrepancy in naming conventions of rugby players, but this is a long-argued topic. Personally I always name dab articles rugby union player as I follow naming conventions adopted by most WP that state the dab should be the person's profession and not their field. So Winston Churchill (politician, born 1940) not Winston Churchill Politics, born 1940. This has been adopted by almost all sports pages, see footballer, cricketer, judako, snooker player, etc. It appears that only American sports have gone the other route, with baseball, basketball, etc.

Also if a player is dual code we don't chose one code over the other, so it would be Mark Robinson (rugby, born 1975) or Mark Robinson (rugby player, born 1975). I use to argue quite a bit over this topic, but I gave up several years ago. Hope you find it helpful one way or another. Cheers FruitMonkey (talk) 18:53, 19 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@FruitMonkey: Well, rugby isn't really something I know much about, but I'm aware that there are certain sensitivities when it comes to naming conventions. Yes, I'm aware of the dual code issue and have read the articles before I moved them. I hope I didn't overlook anything. Thanks for the heads up. Is the list of New Zealand national rugby union players on your watchlist? I left a suggestion on the talk page. Schwede66 18:59, 19 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Anzac Test resources[edit]

I see you put in notes in the Anzac Test pages claiming they do not cite any resources. I'm just wondering why you did this considering that there is a reference given for each page created in the Match Summary sections which verifies the information given.HoldenV8 (talk) 03:32, 24 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@HoldenV8: Mate, I see you have 36000 edits under your belt and you don't know how to do referencing properly? You've added references as an external link; try putting your references between <ref></ref> tags, and they will show up in the references section. I simply did not see those external links, and most others looking at that page would not see that either, I suppose. Schwede66 08:22, 24 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Schwede66, you asked how to unsubscribe blocked users from The Signpost. In most cases you need only remove their entry from WP:Wikipedia Signpost/Tools/Spamlist. Jayaram Ramineni[edit]

Hi Schwede66, I gave inputs for a page ‘Jayram Ramineni’ as I found it blank in Wikipedia with an invitation to give inputs,I am close to Jayaram Ramineni and thought it's my responsibility to give some inputs to that blank page of Wikipedia. In fact I haven't created this page it was there in wikipedia requesting for inputs and I only obliged.

There are approximately 60 million Telugu speaking people....in my opinion a Telugu fashion designer who worked for Femina miss India world 2005 and with a wide reputation among Telugu elites and recognition among masses definitely comes under notability.

As Jayaram expired in 2009 ,He is obviously not a current personality and may not draw much in Google search except in bits and pieces. I have his published port folios, videos of fashion shows and his working stills with famous models, photos of his meetings with famous personalities ,I may try to collect a copy of All India Radio Talk,News paper clippings describing his works etc..etc....

I don't know yet how I can use them to improve this page as I am a first time editor here.

I found one more following link which might be useful.

Great minds thinking alike[edit]

Hi, spookily we seem to have both been researching the Strachey ancestry of Noeline Baker today! My interest in her arose via her (distant) cousin Julia Strachey, the owner of Orchards, Surrey and a friend of Gertrude Jekyll - when I first read about Moturau Moana I thought it might be an Arts and Crafts garden in NZ, but it doesn't seem to be. -- Aegoceras (talk) 20:55, 7 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Aegoceras: No trouble. Can't even remember how I ended up on that particular page this morning. Shall we collaborate on Moturau Moana? Schwede66 21:14, 7 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Sounds like it could be a plan! - though a rather long-distance one in my case...-- Aegoceras (talk) 21:18, 7 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, have just started it. How about you have a go next, while I go hunting for photos on Flickr? Schwede66 21:21, 7 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your assistance[edit]

Kia ora Schwede66.

Thanks for your comments on my draft Clerk of the House of Representatives article. I must admit I wasn't expecting people to start editing before I finished working on it! I can see what you mean about notoriety of James Coates but the person who combined my draft article with an existing article has really messed up because the articles cover two different people.

I was intending to follow the style used in the article on the Clerk of the Canadian House of Commons: i.e. there would be a general article on the office of the Clerk of the House and then separate pages with a bit about each of the 13 clerks who have held office since 1854.

Do you think it would be better to have one large article with internal links to the separate clerks? Your advice appreciated. Cheers Peter.

Stanley Crane[edit]

you have broken the link of Roger Henry Lang on Stanley Crane page which goes to incorrect page, could you correct it. 71.191.3.59 (talk) 18:19, 24 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

See your talk page about what it is that you need to do. Schwede66 18:20, 24 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
you can convert Henry Lang to a diambig-page, since there are many of them , but now you have broken a correct link for RHL. 71.191.3.59 (talk) 18:25, 24 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I've outlined on your talk page what needs doing. Once you have done that, we can sort out disambiguation, which in the first instance will be done via a hatnote; we will only need a dab page once we have three articles of the same name. Schwede66 18:27, 24 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Linking of names[edit]

Re your comment, as you can see, I tried to get that project to address the issue of linking all names, but I got no response, aside from aggressive reverting by one user when I tried to clean up a couple of articles. Any thoughts on how to proceed? It is ludicrous to think that a Maltese badminton player from the 1970s will suddenly become notable enough for an article, which seems to be the premise of all that linking. Regards, Ground Zero | t 20:50, 24 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

How to proceed? There are two approaches possible. Firstly, the WikiProject could sort out what it is that creates inherent notability for Badminton players. After all, that is what the purpose is of having a Wikiproject. Secondly, any action by editors should always align with policy. If you deal with aggressive editors, try and resolve things through discussion on the talk page in the first instance. If that doesn't bring actions back to agreed policy, then bring the issue up at WP:ANI. In summary, the first relies on the willingness of other editors to help and if you don't get that help, you can't proceed. The second relies on stroppy editors to see the light, and if they don't, an admin will sort it out for you. Schwede66 00:26, 25 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
The notability guidelines are at WP:NBADMINTON. WP:REDLINKS suggests that any that don't meet these should not be linked. Mattlore (talk) 00:32, 25 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Excellent! Schwede66 00:36, 25 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Bob Francis[edit]

Hi Schwede, I see you moved the article to Bob Francis (rugby referee), which is fair enough - but the reason I went with the NZ dab was because I couldn't decide what he was more notable for. I'm leaning towards Bob Francis (mayor) over rugby referee. Any thoughts? Mattlore (talk) 06:37, 7 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

It doesn't worry me one way or another. If you now move it to the other version, there should be redirects for all possibilities, which is good. You'd be the much better judge for the most appropriate dab, as you will have read the sources. Schwede66 06:47, 7 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I read all the sources and couldn't decide! Ha. Thanks for adding the politics project tag as well, forgot that. Mattlore (talk) 07:18, 7 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Rocketrod1960: My pleasure. It can't help when you start out with the parliamentary bio that has so many things wrong with it. Is there any point letting parliamentary staff know about necessary corrections? Schwede66 04:34, 9 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I have started to poke around in the Simon Broad article you Prod'd. While I have only made a minor edit, he is looking like he will meet the notability treshhold. I'll need to do more work as the article was useless. NealeFamily (talk) 03:22, 11 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I placed the prod not because of notability concerns, but because it was an unreferenced BLP. Schwede66 10:06, 12 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, if the Lake Papaitonga article is only a C grade, can you tell me what's wrong? It's well-illustrated, well-referenced, fairly thorough, and certainly better than any other reference online.
