Hi, I was a learner and I had disclosed it in this page. Later after learning the guidelines and from the community. They all asked me to add it in the Archive page. I have no affiliation with anyone on Wikipedia. I learnt about the Subject from his frequent news stories of him finding security flaws and when i searched wikipedia for article. He had a few citations in multiple articles and his draft (Promotionally written). Initially, I was a learner too and I made a few edits to rectify the citations in other articles and tried to correct his draft. Not just his i have also contributed on other Articles and have reported security events in the articles of Facebook, Whatsapp. These are my first few edits on Wikipedia .
I'm mostly active on IRC and i always communicate with the admins there. But I'm a learner and It's been 6 months for me editing on Wikipedia
Thanks :) -Tatupiplu'talk 09:29, 19 May 2020 (UTC)

Speedy deletion contested: Robert Burne

Hello Tatupiplu. I am just letting you know that I contested the speedy deletion of Robert Burne, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: @Tatupiplu: "Distinguished professor" is clearly a credible claim of significance, so A7 does not apply. Neither does G5 as TwisterSister was not blocked at the time this page was created, and therefore could not be in violation of said block. Thank you. ——SN54129 11:08, 25 January 2020 (UTC)

stop Hi. Please go back and re-read WP:CSD and ensure you fully comprehend it before nominating any more articles for speedy deletion. Of the 8 speedy deletion requests listed at User:Tatupiplu/CSD log, 7 have been objected to by other editors or declined by admins. Thank you. --kingboyk (talk) 19:57, 25 January 2020 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Ian Sound

Hey, thank you for your recommendations, I have made some changes to my page Ian Sound for it to comply with all the suggestions you sent over. I followed the tips you attached and changed the tone of the article to make it more encyclopedic as well as removed some information.

Regarding the first flag about whether this subject deserves an article, if you just google the name you will see that this artist is pretty well known with multiple interviews.

Another Europe is Possible / Contested Deletion

Hi Tatupiplu, I have contested your speedy deletion of the Another Europe is Possible article through the article's talk page. I would appreciate some more feedback concerning your decision to flag the article as promotional. Carle Jury / Contested deletion

Hello Tatupiplu, I made some changes for the article on Carole Jury (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carole_Jury). I have modified the biography so that the text adopts a neutral tone. I also removed external links that could have been associated with a commercial page. Please could you tell me what else I need to do in order to keep this page active?. Hi, please see the talk page of the article. Throwawiki (talk) 15:24, 4 April 2020 (UTC)

Hi Throwawiki, I've looked into the article again and it looks promotional to me. Let the editors decide the best :) Tatupiplu'talk

  • @Tatupiplu: Have you looked at the talk page of the artile? Why do you think it is promotional? It uses a WP:NPOV. Throwawiki (talk) 20:46, 4 April 2020 (UTC)
Hi Throwawiki, It also doesn't pass the Notability criteria WP:N. I'll discuss with the admins here and I'll take a descision for removing the Speedy deleting and placing a tag for AFD. And I'll respond back to all the submissions that you have done for my AFD articles :). Thanks Tatupiplu'talk

Disruptive editing

You just go around marking articles for deletion, but you do not even bother to check, or read why it is being contested. You must be so proud of all your destructive efforts. KittenKlub (talk) 12:34, 6 April 2020 (UTC)

Hi KittenKlub, I have read the article, and gone through the talk page and links attached. I don't think she is that notable enough to be on Wikipedia. I'm not blindly marking articles for a speedy deletion. Let it get reviewed by the admin. You can continue add more information about the subject, with better citations to avoid getting it deleted. Thanks :) Tatupiplu'talk

Don't tell me that you can decided in 2 seconds especially if I see your continuous amount of deletions which have been overturned. Nevertheless it's been more than one hour already and I just have to wait and wait and wait, because what's the use of starting an article... KittenKlub (talk) 13:21, 6 April 2020 (UTC) P.S. use signature when talking so we know when you say something KittenKlub (talk)

KittenKlub, Just wait for it to be reviewed by an admin. You can continue to add more information on the Talk page. It helps us to make a better decisions. It usually takes a few hours. Please wait :) Tatupiplu'talk

Indeed it will NOW take HOURS and HOURS, because you add a tag to it and in the meantime I can do nothing, because why bother adding more information when it's going to deleted anyhow. Let me also remind you that there are plenty of complaints on the archive of your talk page. Please look and think before pasting a Speedy Delete! KittenKlub (talk) 13:35, 6 April 2020 (UTC)

KittenKlub, You can go through the log, I have placed CSD only for the pages that do not quality to be on Wikipedia WP:N, WP:V. I cannot argue further on this. Lets just wait for an admin to decide :) Tatupiplu'talk

Let's wait and wait, because you were on a deleting frenzy ... Can't argue... KittenKlub (talk) 13:43, 6 April 2020 (UTC)

New page reviewer granted

Hi Tatupiplu. Your account has been added to the "New page reviewers" user group. Please check back at WP:PERM in case your user right is time limited or probationary. This user group allows you to review new pages through the Curation system and mark them as patrolled, tag them for maintenance issues, or nominate them for deletion. The list of articles awaiting review is located at the New Pages Feed. New page reviewing is vital to maintaining the integrity of the encyclopedia. If you have not already done so, you must read the tutorial at New Pages Review, the linked guides and essays, and fully understand the deletion policy. If you need any help or want to discuss the process, you are welcome to use the new page reviewer talk page. In addition, please remember:

  • Be nice to new editors. They are usually not aware that they are doing anything wrong. Do make use of the message feature when tagging pages for maintenance so that they are aware.
  • You will frequently be asked by users to explain why their page is being deleted. Please be formal and polite in your approach to them – even if they are not.
  • If you are not sure what to do with a page, don't review it – just leave it for another reviewer.
  • Accuracy is more important than speed. Take your time to patrol each page. Use the message feature to communicate with article creators and offer advice as much as possible.

The reviewer right does not change your status or how you can edit articles. If you no longer want this user right, you also may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. In cases of abuse or persistent inaccuracy of reviewing, or long-term inactivity, the right may be withdrawn at administrator discretion. signed, Rosguill talk 18:46, 6 April 2020 (UTC)

Pending changes reviewer granted

Hello. Your account has been granted the "pending changes reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on pages protected by pending changes. The list of articles awaiting review is located at Special:PendingChanges, while the list of articles that have pending changes protection turned on is located at Special:StablePages.

Being granted reviewer rights neither grants you status nor changes how you can edit articles. If you do not want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time.

Note

Regarding this dispute, you were in the wrong. It is incorrect to tag pages for speedy deletion because you feel they are not notable. That is something for the community to decide at AfD. The CSD are uncontentious procedural reasons to delete an article. If you look at the wording of WP:A7, you should see that it has nothing to do with notability. It is instead for articles that do not "indicate why its subject is important or significant". In other words, the articles don't even claim to be significant in any way. It then goes on to specifically clarify that it is not the same thing as notability, and is a "lower standard". What this does mean is discussed further in WP:SIGNIFICANCE. I understand it was a good faith misunderstanding, but as a user with New Page Reviewer you really can't be making basic mistakes like this or you risk losing your position of trust. Thanks, and let me know if you have any questions. Best, ~Swarm~ {sting} 18:11, 8 April 2020 (UTC)

~Swarm~ , I'll keep a note of this and avoid making CSD. If i feel they do not pass the Notability, I'll take it to AFD for the community to decide what's best :) - Tatupiplu'talk 18:39, 8 April 2020 (UTC)

Draft Rejected Question

Hi Tatupiplu,

You recently rejected my draft for this page:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Nacsport

and I have a little question I hope you might be able to answer. I've had this draft rejected a few times now because of the reliability of the sources and the lack of importance the sources have. I've read the guidelines etc, and I agree that some of the sources might not be too relevant but I do believe there are a few sources in there where the subject of my article is the main focus of the source and they come from big, 3rd party sources such as El Pais, which is one of the biggest newspapers in Spain. So I was wondering if this keeps getting rejected because the sources are in Spanish?

I hope you can help me, I have asked another of the editors who rejected my draft but haven't recieved a reply.

Thanks in advance for your help,

Requesting help about creating a "free software" organization both community and company

I wrote a message to "Iridescent" because i was confused which admin has edited my page. Then i see an information about my page : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations i'm reading that page

My message was :

" Hi ! First thanks for observation of my page i'm searching Wikipedia help pages but i couldn't find a useful article. I want to create a page like https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Hat which is about our free software efforts. Please let me know what information should be included in that official company page. And what format that i need to use. In the meantime i'm looking at the Red Hat Wikipedia page source code to understand how it is written to learn the Wikipedia page format. "

And also i'm new to Wikipedia and learning the rules , code of conduct etc. That's why i made a mistake while creating a page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:What_Wikipedia_is_not#Wikipedia_is_not_a_soapbox_or_means_of_promotion i'm reading that page.

In my humble opinion to start a page like that will be enough and to avoid wrong information Then i'll get help from my contributors which is in my community like my friends in Free Software Foundation organization to write an offical article

xxx is a multinational software company providing free and open source software services and products to the enterprise community. Founded in 2017/12/27 Founder is Mert Gör Area served Worldwide

Please let me know what should i do next ?

Thanks for your help !

Edit: I'll write an acceptable article which is compatible with the Wikipedia rules soon Then i'll need your help again. Also my friend suggested that article : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Notability_(organizations_and_companies) and i'm reading it

Please do not delete this page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raghaveshwara_Bharathi. I do not see option on the page to contest. This is an important personality who has done a lot of public service. Rescinding reviewer permissions

It has been brought to my attention that you have been editing your CSD log and removing failed nominations. This in itself is concerning behavior, but what is even more concerning is that you ignored a COI disclosure request placed due to you having submitted a promotional-looking article. I have subsequently removed your new page reviewer and pending changes reviewer permissions. signed, Rosguill talk 06:47, 16 April 2020 (UTC)

Hi Rosguill, I think there has been a misunderstanding with the CSD logs, I thought the CSD log is for only the ones that are deleted.

I've been doing this for only a week or so. My intentions are not meant to cause any destruction. But even if we did count the ones that are not deleted. My deletion rate is higher.

And regards to the COI disclosure request, I didn't know where I had to disclose, and I had archived it long back, thinking that it was sent a very long time back. I can post a message or communicate if you feel I should.

I've done my part well with the NPR rights, and Pending Changes reviewer. I have never misused it in any way. But I think I'll reapply after going through one of your courses.

Can you enroll me as one of your students :)? - Tatupiplu'talk 13:37, 16 April 2020 (UTC)

Tatupiplu, if the COI request is archived or removed, you can still respond to it. A note on your user page saying that you are or are not connected with one of the subjects whose articles you edited would be fine, stated in your own words. Better late than never. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 14:33, 16 April 2020 (UTC)
I have responded to the request here: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk:Tatupiplu&oldid=951299331 - Tatupiplu'talk 14:41, 16 April 2020 (UTC)

Per WP:Stub, disambiguation pages can't be stubs. I'm not familiar how pages from Category:Mathematics disambiguation pages are tagged, but Category:Disambig-Class mathematics articles does not exist and seems a bit redundant with the previously mentioned cat. 1234qwer1234qwer4 (talk) 10:27, 4 June 2020 (UTC)

But the article is not about myself. I´m a scientist not a film producer. Is a person I know and asked to do its page. How can I create her page then?

Can't find enough in-depth coverage to pass WP:GNG.

Draft:P.D. Shah

Tatupiplu, you declined my article draft, Draft:P.D. Shah, based on "... do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject". P.D. Shah is notable, in the world of Rudra Veena players. My guess is you have never heard of Rudra Veena, an ancient Indian stringed instrument for performing Dhrupad (have you heard of Dhrupad?). If you look at the list of Rudra Veena players, past, on my website http://www.rudraveena.org/Beenkars.html you will see many obscure, unknown names. They are all notable. I have researched P.D. Shah and interviewed his daughter, Vijaya Rajkotia, who contributed information about her father's life. P.D. Shah is especially notable because he combined elements of southern and northern Indian classical music... something no one else has done. My site references the information that is available, about P.D. Shah. Tell me how we can allow this article to proceed. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Vtranz (talkcontribs) 16:36, 25 October 2020 (UTC)

New Page Patrol December Newsletter

Hello Tatupiplu,

A chart of the 2020 New Page Patrol Queue

Year in review

It has been a productive year for New Page Patrol as we've roughly cut the size of the New Page Patrol queue in half this year. We have been fortunate to have a lot of great work done by Rosguill who was the reviewer of the most pages and redirects this past year. Thanks and credit go to JTtheOG and Onel5969 who join Rosguill in repeating in the top 10 from last year. Thanks to John B123, Hughesdarren, and Mccapra who all got the NPR permission this year and joined the top 10. Also new to the top ten is DannyS712 bot III, programmed by DannyS712 which has helped to dramatically reduce the number of redirects that have needed human patrolling by patrolling certain types of redirects (e.g. for differences in accents) and by also patrolling editors who are on on the redirect whitelist.

Rank Username Num reviews Log
1 DannyS712 bot III (talk) 67,552 Patrol Page Curation
2 Rosguill (talk) 63,821 Patrol Page Curation

9 Hughesdarren (talk) 4,520 Patrol Page Curation
10 Utopes (talk) 3,958 Patrol Page Curation
Reviewer of the Year

John B123 has been named reviewer of the year for 2020. John has held the permission for just over 6 months and in that time has helped cut into the queue by reviewing more than 18,000 articles. His talk page shows his efforts to communicate with users, upholding NPP's goal of nurturing new users and quality over quantity.

NPP Technical Achievement Award

As a special recognition and thank you DannyS712 has been awarded the first NPP Technical Achievement Award. His work programming the bot has helped us patrol redirects tremendously - more than 60,000 redirects this past year. This has been a large contribution to New Page Patrol and definitely is worthy of recognition.

Could you please review my article

Hey.

I noticed you have reviewed a few pages in your time at Wikipedia- I am a beginner to Wikipedia and have just finished writing my first article, now the draft is pending for review. It'd be great if you could check it over! I am apprehensive that it will contain mistakes and I will need to wait another few weeks/months before getting another review.

Many thanks, Apaul291003 (talk) 11:22, 6 January 2021 (UTC)

Apaul291003, (talk page stalker), they are not a new page reviewer or patroller or AfC reviewer. Therefore, they may not help you to review this but might help you to fix some errors and mistakes. You should wait untill your draft will be reviewed. Otherwise tag it with related WikiProjects to speed up the review process. Thank you. Empire AS Talk! 11:34, 6 January 2021 (UTC)

Question about decline the Boxmode.com article

Hi Farah,

Thank you for reviewing my article about our startup Boxmode.com.

As I understand, we do not have enough references from independent media, is this the reason for the decline?

Please tell me what sources the information will be considered trustworthy? I've looked at other talks with a similar failure reason - and haven't found an answer.

I do not understand from which sources to request a recitation of our site so that they serve as a quality and trustworthy Wikipedia. I would be very grateful if you could show me a couple of examples of such sources :)

Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give a page a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Ehraz Ahmed. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases for registered users, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. While I’m neutral on whether the article should have been moved to draftspace to begin with, if the article is to be restored, it should be done by a page move rather than the copy and paste which you did. --Finngall talk 15:57, 19 July 2021 (UTC)

Hi @Finngall, Thanks for the information. I was unaware of requested moves. I'll try to request someone to move the page from the draft space to the main by following the instructions or wait for someone to review the draft. I think there was no need for someone to move the main article to the draft space. Can you guide me how i can raise this issue to the admins? Thanks 17:41, 19 July 2021 (UTC)

Ehraz Ahmed moved to draftspace

WP:GAMING concerns, please see log comments. MrsSnoozyTurtle 22:26, 19 July 2021 (UTC)

Redoing the copy-and-paste move was a Bad Idea(tm). Further such editing could be construed as disruptive and treated accordingly. --Finngall talk 23:47, 19 July 2021 (UTC)

New Page Patrol newsletter September 2021

New Page Review queue September 2021

Hello Tatupiplu,

Please join this discussion - there is increase in the abuse of Wikipedia and its processes by POV pushers, Paid Editors, and by holders of various user rights including Autopatrolled. Even our review systems themselves at AfC and NPR have been infiltrated. The good news is that detection is improving, but the downside is that it creates the need for a huge clean up - which of course adds to backlogs.

Copyright violations are also a serious issue. Most non-regular contributors do not understand why, and most of our Reviewers are not experts on copyright law - and can't be expected to be, but there is excellent, easy-to-follow advice on COPYVIO detection here.

At the time of the last newsletter (#25, December 2020) the backlog was only just over 2,000 articles. New Page Review is an official system. It's the only firewall against the inclusion of new, improper pages.

There are currently 706 New Page Reviewers plus a further 1,080 admins, but as much as nearly 90% of the patrolling is still being done by around only the 20 or so most regular patrollers.

If you are no longer very active on Wikipedia or you no longer wish to be part of the New Page Reviewer user group, please consider asking any admin to remove you from the list. This will enable NPP to have a better overview of its performance and what improvements need to be made to the process or its software.

Various awards are due to be allocated by the end of the year and barnstars are overdue. If you would like to manage this, please let us know. Indeed, if you are interested in coordinating NPR, it does not involve much time and the tasks are described here.

Hi there. I'm attempting to flesh out this article, but was actively told by another contributor (and editor) here on Wikipedia not to over-inundate with sources on an article that's meant to be specific and straightforward.

--Guerillero Parlez Moi 12:13, 19 December 2021 (UTC)

  • The template {{db-afc-move}} has been created - this template is similar to {{db-move}} when there is a redirect in the way of an acceptance, but specifically tells the patrolling admin to let you (the draft reviewer) take care of the actual move.

Short and sweet, but there's always more to discuss at WT:AFC. Stop on by, maybe review a draft on the way? Whether you're one of our top reviewers, or haven't reviewed in a while, I want to thank you for helping out in the past and in the future. Cheers, Primefac, via MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 16:00, 16 February 2022 (UTC)

Hello, Tatupiplu,

When reviewing drafts for consideration of whether they should be accepted and moved into main space, please check to see if there were previous AFD discussions about the subject and whether it appears that the new article has overcome problems cited in the deletion discussion. I realize that you can't see the deleted version but this wasn't a strongly sourced article. Thank you for your contributions though! Liz Read! Talk! 23:56, 28 April 2022 (UTC)

I have unreviewed a page you curated

Hi, I'm IAmChaos. I wanted to let you know that I saw the page you reviewed, Gwenesis, and have marked it as unreviewed. If you have any questions, please ask them on my talk page. Thank you.

New Page Patrol newsletter May 2022

New Page Review queue March 2022

Hello Tatupiplu,

At the time of the last newsletter (No.26, September 2021), the backlog was 'only' just over 6,000 articles. In the past six months, the backlog has reached nearly 16,000, a staggering level not seen in several years. A very small number of users had been doing the vast majority of the reviews. Due to "burn-out", we have recently lost most of this effort. Furthermore, several reviewers have been stripped of the user right for abuse of privilege and the articles they patrolled were put back in the queue.

Several discussions on the state of the process have taken place on the talk page, but there has been no action to make any changes. The project also lacks coordination since the "position" is vacant.

In the last 30 days, only 100 reviewers have made more than 8 patrols and only 50 have averaged one review a day. There are currently 809 New Page Reviewers, but about a third have not had any activity in the past month. All 859 administrators have this permission, but only about a dozen significantly contribute to NPP.

This means we have an active pool of about 450 to address the backlog. We cannot rely on a few to do most of the work as that inevitably leads to burnout. A fairly experienced reviewer can usually do a review in a few minutes. If every active reviewer would patrol just one article per day, the backlog would very quickly disappear.

If you have noticed a user with a good understanding of Wikipedia notability and deletion, do suggest they help the effort by placing {{subst:NPR invite}} on their talk page.

If you are no longer very active on Wikipedia or you no longer wish to be part of the New Page Reviewer user group, please consider asking any admin to remove you from the list. This will enable NPP to have a better overview of its performance and what improvements need to be made to the process and its software.

To opt-out of future mailings, please remove yourself here.

Ehraz Ahmed

Hi, can you please explain your logic in marking this article as patrolled? The first AfD of the article suggests that there's possible UPE with this article & you participated in that discussion, though it ended with getting the article deleted. How come you mark it as patrolled again? I'd like to hear your voice. Thanks. ─ The Aafī on Mobile (talk) 07:57, 25 May 2022 (UTC)

Rosguill, would you like to have an opinion here? I see you once removed NPR from Tatupiplu. I suspect Tatupiplu has a COI with Ehraz Ahmad, given they belong to a same geographical area, Mysore, and that they argued for keep in the first AfD, and as soon the article is created again, they mark it as patrolled on the same day. I don't think they're enough good to have the NPR flag and should instead go through NPP schooling. ─ The Aafī on Mobile (talk) 08:07, 25 May 2022 (UTC)
Hi AafiOnMobile, I believe the subject has enough primary links from sources like CNBC TV18, Pinkvilla and Aljazeera and even more secondary links, which I found out after researching about the subject, which are not mentioned in the article. This is why I marked the article as patrolled. I wanted to develop the article with all the links that the subject has, however, it’s marked for deletion before I could have done that. As far as the COI is concerned, we do happen to share the same geographical area but that doesn’t mean that we do share some interests. I have disclosed the same earlier, too. And in my area, I normally usually review and patrol the articles that belong to my State after doing proper research about the subject. And in case, if something is beyond my understanding, I take a decision on the official Discord channel of Wikipedia after discussing it with other editors. I am there with the same name, you can verify the same. Tatupiplu'talk 09:51, 25 May 2022 (UTC)
Hi, isn't it true that you once yourself submitted this to the AfC and it was declined as a promotional piece. Thereafter, there were several attempts to create it in mainspace and it was sent to AfD where it was deleted. Why did you mark such a page as patrolled that you had once submitted to AfC and was declined? Take some time and clarify this. Just a yes or no question, have you taken any payments in turn for any AfC/NPR review on the Wikipedia? ─ The Aafī on Mobile (talk) 06:39, 26 May 2022 (UTC)
@AafiOnMobile I submitted AfC two years back and have already explained COI. The reason for me marking the article as patrolled after two years is exactly what I have explained in the above text. I believe he has enough reliable and independent primary and secondary reference links. I patrol articles after doing proper research on the subject and my stats prove the same. Apart from that, I would like to mention that if the subject passes GNG his page should be created, if not it can be deleted. And I can understand where you are coming from, which is why I won't be marking any articles patrolled or edit any articles which are of this interest. As far as the payments are concerned, the answer is a No. I never accept such requests and I deny or report the same, because it's against Wikipedia guidelines. Tatupiplu'talk 06:55, 26 May 2022 (UTC)
Thanks for the response. Feelings of UPE and COI come in someone's mind due to a variety of reasons, and these should be answered calmly. Please continue contributing to the encyclopedia. However, I'd again suggest you to join NPP school, the same that was once suggested by my mentor Rosguill. Atsme might be free to mentor. Thanks again. ─ The Aafī on Mobile (talk) 07:00, 26 May 2022 (UTC)
Thanks for the suggestion. I appreciate it. I would surely do that. Tatupiplu'talk 07:17, 26 May 2022 (UTC)

Arandora Star Memorial Bollengo [To] Italy

Hi Tatupiplu

The story of the Arandora Star sinking on the 2 July 1940 is well documented and has generated a lot of interest in Britain, Italy and Ireland. My family origins are from Bollengo and village of approx 2,000, During 2014 the mayor asked me about why the family had emigrated and what happened to them for a pictorial book he was writing. This inspired me to look deeper into my ancestry and was drawn to the fate of my Grandfather who was arrested in Manchester along with many Italians to be deported to Canada. The ship he was on the Arandora Star was sunk by a German U-Boat (U-47) and my grandfather died along with 840 others. There were 9 others from this little village and a further 10 from the surrounding area of the 'Canavese'. All these men had been completely forgotten. There are many memorials in the UK, Italy and Ireland, the largest of which is in Glasgow. In 2017 I approached the Mayor of Bollengo Sergio Ricca to have a memorial erected in the village in memory of these forgotten souls. I drew the original sketch, commissioned and paid for its creation and siting on the Via Francigena. We waited until the 80th anniversary to have it unveiled. It made the local papers and TV at the time and several articles have appeared since. I have a photo of the memorial but I am struggling to attach it to my submission. The controversy around this event is still ongoing. The purpose of my enquiry for a specific entry on the Wikipedia platform is to remember our relatives, promote the cause of this tragic event which must not be forgotten, to reach the descendants and encourage them to visit this memorial.

Any help in this cause would be greatly appreciated.

Another project I am working on is to have the wreck of the Arandora Star located and surveyed.

Kind regards

El Cid B

Thanks for Reviewing my Article

Thank You for reviewing my Article Athram Sakku, but i saw that you have added Stub category, i think you did that by mistake. I would like to tell you please understand about that, and this politician is associated with Telangana Rashtra Samithi not the Indian National Congress now, so you have to add TRS Politician category and stubs. Thank You. –|Botu Yadav (talk) 14:43, 4 June 2022 (UTC)|

@Botu Yadav Thanks for notifying. I've fixed the issue. Tatupiplu'talk 15:53, 4 June 2022 (UTC)

@Tatupiplu Are you sure? You are a New Page Reviewer, you should add Category for Birth year, Where the people belongs from and more categories like that but you are not adding those. BTW, I can add those too. –|Botu Yadav (talk) 15:57, 4 June 2022 (UTC)|

@Botu Yadav Yes. I was about to add those categories, it seems you have already made those changes. Thanks for the suggestion. Tatupiplu'talk 16:02, 4 June 2022 (UTC)

New Page Patrol newsletter June 2022

New Page Review queue June 2022

Hello Tatupiplu,

Backlog status

At the time of the last newsletter (No.27, May 2022), the backlog was approaching 16,000, having shot up rapidly from 6,000 over the prior two months. The attention the newsletter brought to the backlog sparked a flurry of activity. There was new discussion on process improvements, efforts to invite new editors to participate in NPP increased and more editors requested the NPP user right so they could help, and most importantly, the number of reviews picked up and the backlog decreased, dipping below 14,000[a] at the end of May.

Since then, the news has not been so good. The backlog is basically flat, hovering around 14,200. I wish I could report the number of reviews done and the number of new articles added to the queue. But the available statistics we have are woefully inadequate. The only real number we have is the net queue size.[b]

In the last 30 days, the top 100 reviewers have all made more than 16 patrols (up from 8 last month), and about 70 have averaged one review a day (up from 50 last month).

While there are more people doing more reviews, many of the ~730 with the NPP right are doing little. Most of the reviews are being done by the top 50 or 100 reviewers. They need your help. We appreciate every review done, but please aim to do one a day (on average, or 30 a month).

Backlog drive

A backlog reduction drive, coordinated by buidhe and Zippybonzo, will be held from July 1 to July 31. Sign up here. Barnstars will be awarded.

TIP – New school articles

Many new articles on schools are being created by new users in developing and/or non-English-speaking countries. The authors are probably not even aware of Wikipedia's projects and policy pages. WP:WPSCH/AG has some excellent advice and resources specifically written for these users. Reviewers could consider providing such first-time article creators with a link to it while also mentioning that not all schools pass the GNG and that elementary schools are almost certainly not notable.

Misc

There is a new template available, {{NPP backlog}}, to show the current backlog. You can place it on your user or talk page as a reminder:

Very high unreviewed pages backlog: 9292 articles, as of 10:00, 26 May 2024 (UTC), according to DatBot

There has been significant discussion at WP:VPP recently on NPP-related matters (Draftification, Deletion, Notability, Verifiability, Burden). Proposals that would somewhat ease the burden on NPP aren't gaining much traction, although there are suggestions that the role of NPP be fundamentally changed to focus only on major CSD-type issues.

Reminders
  • Consider staying informed on project issues by putting the project discussion page on your watchlist.
  • If you have noticed a user with a good understanding of Wikipedia notability and deletion, suggest they help the effort by placing {{subst:NPR invite}} on their talk page.
  • If you are no longer very active on Wikipedia or you no longer wish to be part of the New Page Reviewer user group, please consider asking any admin to remove you from the list. This will enable NPP to have a better overview of its performance and what improvements need to be made to the process and its software.
  • To opt-out of future mailings, please remove yourself here.
Notes
  1. ^ not including another ~6,000 redirects
  2. ^ The number of weekly reviews reported in the NPP feed includes redirects, which are not included in the backlog we primarily track.

New Page Patrol newsletter August 2022

New Page Review queue August 2022

Hello Tatupiplu,

Backlog status

After the last newsletter (No.28, June 2022), the backlog declined another 1,000 to 13,000 in the last week of June. Then the July backlog drive began, during which 9,900 articles were reviewed and the backlog fell by 4,500 to just under 8,500 (these numbers illustrate how many new articles regularly flow into the queue). Thanks go to the coordinators Buidhe and Zippybonzo, as well as all the nearly 100 participants. Congratulations to Dr vulpes who led with 880 points. See this page for further details.

Unfortunately, most of the decline happened in the first half of the month, and the backlog has already risen to 9,600. Understandably, it seems many backlog drive participants are taking a break from reviewing and unfortunately, we are not even keeping up with the inflow let alone driving it lower. We need the other 600 reviewers to do more! Please try to do at least one a day.

Coordination
MB and Novem Linguae have taken on some of the coordination tasks. Please let them know if you are interested in helping out. MPGuy2824 will be handling recognition, and will be retroactively awarding the annual barnstars that have not been issued for a few years.
Open letter to the WMF
The Page Curation software needs urgent attention. There are dozens of bug fixes and enhancements that are stalled (listed at Suggested improvements). We have written a letter to be sent to the WMF and we encourage as many patrollers as possible to sign it here. We are also in negotiation with the Board of Trustees to press for assistance. Better software will make the active reviewers we have more productive.
TIP - Reviewing by subject
Reviewers who prefer to patrol new pages by their most familiar subjects can do so from the regularly updated sorted topic list.
New reviewers
The NPP School is being underused. The learning curve for NPP is quite steep, but a detailed and easy-to-read tutorial exists, and the Curation Tool's many features are fully described and illustrated on the updated page here.
New Page Patrol newsletter October 2022

Hello Tatupiplu,

Much has happened since the last newsletter over two months ago. The open letter finished with 444 signatures. The letter was sent to several dozen people at the WMF, and we have heard that it is being discussed but there has been no official reply. A related article appears in the current issue of The Signpost. If you haven't seen it, you should, including the readers' comment section.

Awards: Barnstars were given for the past several years (thanks to MPGuy2824), and we are now all caught up. The 2021 cup went to John B123 for leading with 26,525 article reviews during 2021. To encourage moderate activity, a new "Iron" level barnstar is awarded annually for reviewing 360 articles ("one-a-day"), and 100 reviews earns the "Standard" NPP barnstar. About 90 reviewers received barnstars for each of the years 2018 to 2021 (including the new awards that were given retroactively). All awards issued for every year are listed on the Awards page. Check out the new Hall of Fame also.

Software news: Novem Linguae and MPGuy2824 have connected with WMF developers who can review and approve patches, so they have been able to fix some bugs, and make other improvements to the Page Curation software. You can see everything that has been fixed recently here. The reviewer report has also been improved.

NPP backlog May – October 15, 2022

Suggestions:

  • There is much enthusiasm over the low backlog, but remember that the "quality and depth of patrolling are more important than speed".
  • Reminder: an article should not be tagged for any kind of deletion for a minimum of 15 minutes after creation and it is often appropriate to wait an hour or more. (from the NPP tutorial)
  • Reviewers should focus their effort where it can do the most good, reviewing articles. Other clean-up tasks that don't require advanced permissions can be left to other editors that routinely improve articles in these ways (creating Talk Pages, specifying projects and ratings, adding categories, etc.) Let's rely on others when it makes the most sense. On the other hand, if you enjoy doing these tasks while reviewing and it keeps you engaged with NPP (or are guiding a newcomer), then by all means continue.
  • This user script puts a link to the feed in your top toolbar.

Backlog:

Saving the best for last: From a July low of 8,500, the backlog climbed back to 11,000 in August and then reversed in September dropping to below 6,000 and continued falling with the October backlog drive to under 1,000, a level not seen in over four years. Keep in mind that there are 2,000 new articles every week, so the number of reviews is far higher than the backlog reduction. To keep the backlog under a thousand, we have to keep reviewing at about half the recent rate!

Reminders
  • Newsletter feedback - please take this short poll about the newsletter.
  • If you're interested in instant messaging and chat rooms, please join us on the New Page Patrol Discord, where you can ask for help and live chat with other patrollers.
  • Please add the project discussion page to your watchlist.
  • If you are no longer very active on Wikipedia or you no longer wish to be a reviewer, please ask any admin to remove you from the group. If you want the tools back again, just ask at PERM.

New Pages Patrol newsletter January 2023

Hello Tatupiplu,

New Page Review queue December 2022
Backlog

The October drive reduced the backlog from 9,700 to an amazing 0! Congratulations to WaddlesJP13 who led with 2084 points. See this page for further details. The queue is steadily rising again and is approaching 2,000. It would be great if <2,000 were the “new normal”. Please continue to help out even if it's only for a few or even one patrol a day.

2022 Awards

Onel5969 won the 2022 cup for 28,302 article reviews last year - that's an average of nearly 80/day. There was one Gold Award (5000+ reviews), 11 Silver (2000+), 28 Iron (360+) and 39 more for the 100+ barnstar. Rosguill led again for the 4th year by clearing 49,294 redirects. For the full details see the Awards page and the Hall of Fame. Congratulations everyone!

Minimum deletion time: The previous WP:NPP guideline was to wait 15 minutes before tagging for deletion (including draftification and WP:BLAR). Due to complaints, a consensus decided to raise the time to 1 hour. To illustrate this, very new pages in the feed are now highlighted in red. (As always, this is not applicable to attack pages, copyvios, vandalism, etc.)

New draftify script: In response to feedback from AFC, the The Move to Draft script now provides a choice of set messages that also link the creator to a new, friendly explanation page. The script also warns reviewers if the creator is probably still developing the article. The former script is no longer maintained. Please edit your edit your common.js or vector.js file from User:Evad37/MoveToDraft.js to User:MPGuy2824/MoveToDraft.js

Redirects: Some of our redirect reviewers have reduced their activity and the backlog is up to 9,000+ (two months deep). If you are interested in this distinctly different task and need any help, see this guide, this checklist, and spend some time at WP:RFD.

Discussions with the WMF The PageTriage open letter signed by 444 users is bearing fruit. The Growth Team has assigned some software engineers to work on PageTriage, the software that powers the NewPagesFeed and the Page Curation toolbar. WMF has submitted dozens of patches in the last few weeks to modernize PageTriage's code, which will make it easier to write patches in the future. This work is helpful but is not very visible to the end user. For patches visible to the end user, volunteers such as Novem Linguae and MPGuy2824 have been writing patches for bug reports and feature requests. The Growth Team also had a video conference with the NPP coordinators to discuss revamping the landing pages that new users see.

Reminders

New Pages Patrol newsletter June 2023

Hello Tatupiplu,

New Page Review queue April to June 2023

Backlog

Redirect drive: In response to an unusually high redirect backlog, we held a redirect backlog drive in May. The drive completed with 23851 reviews done in total, bringing the redirect backlog to 0 (momentarily). Congratulations to Hey man im josh who led with a staggering 4316 points, followed by Meena and Greyzxq with 2868 and 2546 points respectively. See this page for more details. The redirect queue is steadily rising again and is steadily approaching 4,000. Please continue to help out, even if it's only for a few or even one review a day.

Redirect autopatrol: All administrators without autopatrol have now been added to the redirect autopatrol list. If you see any users who consistently create significant amounts of good quality redirects, consider requesting redirect autopatrol for them here.

WMF work on PageTriage: The WMF Moderator Tools team, consisting of Sam, Jason and Susana, and also some patches from Jon, has been hard at work updating PageTriage. They are focusing their efforts on modernising the extension's code rather than on bug fixes or new features, though some user-facing work will be prioritised. This will help make sure that this extension is not deprecated, and is easier to work on in the future. In the next month or so, we will have an opt-in beta test where new page patrollers can help test the rewrite of Special:NewPagesFeed, to help find bugs. We will post more details at WT:NPPR when we are ready for beta testers.

Articles for Creation (AFC): All new page reviewers are now automatically approved for Articles for Creation draft reviewing (you do not need to apply at WT:AFCP like was required previously). To install the AFC helper script, visit Special:Preferences, visit the Gadgets tab, tick "Yet Another AFC Helper Script", then click "Save". To find drafts to review, visit Special:NewPagesFeed, and at the top left, tick "Articles for Creation". To review a draft, visit a submitted draft, click on the "More" menu, then click "Review (AFCH)". You can also comment on and submit drafts that are unsubmitted using the script.

You can review the AFC workflow at WP:AFCR. It is up to you if you also want to mark your AFC accepts as NPP reviewed (this is allowed but optional, depends if you would like a second set of eyes on your accept). Don't forget that draftspace is optional, so moves of drafts to mainspace (even if they are not ready) should not be reverted, except possibly if there is conflict of interest.

Pro tip: Did you know that visual artists such as painters have their own SNG? The most common part of this "creative professionals" criteria that applies to artists is WP:ARTIST 4b (solo exhibition, not group exhibition, at a major museum) or 4d (being represented within the permanent collections of two museums).

Reminders

New pages patrol needs your help!

New pages patrol newsletter

Hello Tatupiplu,

New Page Review article queue, March to September 2023

Backlog update: At the time of this message, there are 11,300 articles and 15,600 redirects awaiting review. This is the highest backlog in a long time. Please help out by doing additional reviews!

October backlog elimination drive: A one-month backlog drive for October will start in one week! Barnstars will be awarded based on the number of articles and redirects patrolled. Articles will earn 4x as many points compared to redirects. You can sign up here.

PageTriage code upgrades: Upgrades to the PageTriage code, initiated by the NPP open letter in 2022 and actioned by the WMF Moderator Tools Team in 2023, are ongoing. More information can be found here. As part of this work, the Special:NewPagesFeed now has a new version in beta! The update leaves the NewPagesFeed appearance and function mostly identical to the old one, but updates the underlying code, making it easier to maintain and helping make sure the extension is not decommissioned due to maintenance issues in the future. You can try out the new Special:NewPagesFeed here - it will replace the current version soon.

Notability tip: Professors can meet WP:PROF #1 by having their academic papers be widely cited by their peers. When reviewing professor articles, it is a good idea to find their Google Scholar or Scopus profile and take a look at their h-index and number of citations. As a very rough rule of thumb, for most fields, articles on people with a h-index of twenty or more, a first-authored paper with more than a thousand citations, or multiple papers each with more than a hundred citations are likely to be kept at AfD.

Reviewing tip: If you would like like a second opinion on your reviews or simply want another new page reviewer by your side when patrolling, we recommend pair reviewing! This is where two reviewers use Discord voice chat and screen sharing to communicate with each other while reviewing the same article simultaneously. This is a great way to learn and transfer knowledge.
