Request for review

Hello, hope you’re doing alright? Thanks for all the good work you’re doing on Wikipedia. I was wondering if you could help me review an article I did about 2 months ago. Here: Scooby Nero. It will be very much appreciated. Mevoelo (talk) 19:26, 30 April 2024 (UTC)

@Mevoelo Hi there. I have seen that article before now for sure, and, to be honest, I’d rather send it to AfD when I have the time. Vanderwaalforces (talk) 19:45, 30 April 2024 (UTC)

Carterson

Hello @Vanderwaalforces, I hope you're having a great day. I wanted to bring to your attention the recent discussion regarding the deletion of the Carterson article on Wikipedia Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Carterson. While it only received one vote, I believe there wasn't sufficient emphasis on why it should be deleted. The subject has garnered notable press coverage from major news bodies and publications in Nigeria and Africa, which aligns with Wikipedia's guidelines. Additionally, the sources cited are verified Nigerian sources according to Wikipedia's guidelines https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProject_Nigeria/Nigerian_sources. I highly respect your expertise and believe this matter can be resolved. Could we possibly rewrite the article and submit it for verification? Your assistance in this matter would be greatly appreciated. Dahproman (talk) 11:31, 3 May 2024 (UTC)

Hi there, I think what gave you confidence is because I didn’t attempt a source assessment. You clearly do not understand how to evaluate Nigerian sources and I can help you do that. Before attempting to create another draft, drop the links/sources that you’re going to use, let me help you evaluate them and tell you why I would still think the draft should be deleted. Na Nigerian wey you be naim I be too, you no go fit come whyne me. Drop your links make I do the analysis for you. Dem don warn you for COI before, you no gree disclose am, be careful make dem no block you las las. Vanderwaalforces (talk) 11:39, 3 May 2024 (UTC)
Ah thank you sir i would be able to do that i can just send the links over and you can help me out sir my sincere apologies if i got on your nerves this dey very akward to say now but na brothers all of us be thank you for your future and past corrections and much respect sir. Draft:Linguistic monogenesis and polygenesis

Hello @Vanderwaalforces. Thank you for your review of Draft:Linguistic monogenesis and polygenesis. I think I've solved the inline citations problem (adding inline, in-depth citations to most statements in the article). Do you think that's necessary to remove the template and for the article to be created? Pcg111 (talk) 09:31, 4 May 2024 (UTC)

@Pcg111 Hi there, you’ve done well. There’s no need to remove the template, it is needed for an AfC reviewer to get to it. So just hold, someone will get to it soon. Vanderwaalforces (talk) 10:54, 4 May 2024 (UTC)
Thank you. Pcg111 (talk) 10:56, 4 May 2024 (UTC)

Hello again @Vanderwaalforces: Sorry to bother you again. I think I've solved all the issues on Draft:Linguistic monogenesis and polygenesis (the duplication issue is commented at the draft talk). Could you please review it again?

P.D.: I don't know it it's possible, but could you, before potentially declining the creation of the article, say to me the things to improve? Thanks, Pcg111 (talk) 18:59, 5 May 2024 (UTC).

@Pcg111 I don’t want to review that draft for reason which Remsense already mentioned. When there’s an article for monogenesis and progenesis, why do we need this one? The question is more or less rhetorical, so let someone give it a review, just be patient. Vanderwaalforces (talk) 19:19, 5 May 2024 (UTC)
Ok, thank you and sorry for bothering you. Pcg111 (talk) 19:22, 5 May 2024 (UTC)
@Pcg111 Don’t worry, you didn’t bother me. Vanderwaalforces (talk) 19:23, 5 May 2024 (UTC)

Your GA nomination of Battle of Ekiokpagha

The article Battle of Ekiokpagha you nominated as a good article has failed ; see Talk:Battle of Ekiokpagha for reasons why the nomination failed. I have sent you a note about a page you reviewed

Hi Vanderwaalforces. Thank you for your work on Oklo (disambiguation). Another editor, B3251, has reviewed it as part of new pages patrol and left the following comment:

Hey there, I appreciate your efforts to review new pages, but articles with issues such as Oklo (disambiguation) (in this case WP:PROD) should not be marked as reviewed. This is specifically per WP:NPPDEL, but I recommend checking out the general steps and things to consider when reviewing articles over at WP:NPP. Thanks,

To reply, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|B3251}}. (Message delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.)

The Strawberry Thief (novel)

Hi Vanderwaalforces, I've just tried to move an article into mainspace, but somehow I made a mistake and created a page with the wrong title. It should have been "The Strawberry Thief" (novel), but instead came up as "The Strawberry" (novel). I'm still very new to creating pages, and I can't find a way to change the title back to what it should be. I've tried undoing the page, but that doesn't work. Would you mind having a look for me, please? My mentor told me to: "ask an admin to move The Strawberry (novel) to The Strawberry Thief without a redirect," but I can't find where to do it! Your help would be much appreciated. ArthurTheGardener (talk) 15:21, 14 May 2024 (UTC)

@ArthurTheGardener Hi there. I have moved the page to The Strawberry Thief from The Strawberry (novel) without leaving a redirect. PS: You don't need an admin to do that, I page mover could. I also noticed that you created The Strawberry Thief (novel) at first and thought you made a mistake when I checked history, that's why I requested speedy deletion, but redirecting The Strawberry Thief (novel) to The Strawberry Thief would not be a bad idea now. Happy editing! Vanderwaalforces (talk) 15:32, 14 May 2024 (UTC)
Thank you: I appreciate your help. ArthurTheGardener (talk) 15:35, 14 May 2024 (UTC)

Subject Creation Feedback

Good day @Vanderwaalforces i wanted to create a wikipedia article on this subject he was an online sensation 2021 - 2022 and built notability from there on. here are his links i am creating this article because building an independent Notable career isnt something that can easily be done and since there is no conflict of interest between i and the subject too thats why i decided to send these links as you requested.

There are more of these, just wanted to send these so you know he has Significant press coevrage from notable Nigerian sources according to Wikipedia:WikiProject Nigeria/Nigerian sources Dahproman (talk) 06:13, 15 May 2024 (UTC)

@Dahproman Just so you know, for a source to be used, it needs to pass WP:SIGCOV, WP:INDEPENDENT, and WP:RS. If it passes WP:SIGCOV and WP:RS but does not pass WP:INDEPENDENT, it should not be used. All three needs to be passed. The first-three sources you provided above do not meet all three. The last three are PRs and cannot be used either. I have also done some searches on my own and will only urge you to forget about this subject for now and focus elsewhere. There are plenty things you can engage yourself with on here. Vanderwaalforces (talk) 07:17, 15 May 2024 (UTC)
Okay sir thank you @Vanderwaalforces for your feedback much appreciated Dahproman (talk) 08:23, 15 May 2024 (UTC)

Your decline of redirects

You declined a redirect request. Asking for sources for the alternate names. However, three alternate name sources had been provided. Kindly reconsider. This relates to your 16:35, 14 May 2024 refusal of the redirects for Olympic swimmer Anastasia Gorbenko. The request had been made on 17:29, 10 May 2024. The refusal struck me as unusual given they the requested for links to uses of the alternately spelled name had in fact been supplied. And in no way were the slightly different spellings of this foreign name - as you termed it - an “unlikely” term. They are both quite similar. And supported by links. 2806:261:4AD:8319:D148:52FD:29B4:A82 (talk) 06:17, 15 May 2024 (UTC)

I do not find either "Anatasia", "Anastasiya" or "Anastasiia" as alternative names for "Anastasia". These are weird and unlikely alternative names. Vanderwaalforces (talk) 07:12, 15 May 2024 (UTC)
These as you imagine are not imaginary concoctions. They are actual variations with the surname Gorbenko. Reflected in the links that were supplied with the request. In addition, I’m unclear what is meant when you say you “do not find” these to be other than “weird and unlikely.” Perhaps you are referring (I can’t tell) to a gut feeling rather than a fact based inquiry (beyond the links supplied in the request) In addition to the links supplied which I allude to, that comment is somewhat at odds with simple google searches. As well as simple Wikipedia searches. See https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?limit=500&offset=0&profile=default&search=%22Anatasia%22&title=Special:Search&ns0=1 I would ask that you reconsider and self revert under the circumstances. Thank you. - see for example https://www.google.com/search?q=%22Anatasia%22&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en-us&client=safari#ip=1 --2806:261:4AD:8319:D148:52FD:29B4:A82 (talk) 11:39, 15 May 2024 (UTC)
If you really want these redirects, kindly re-request them at the request page. I will not revert a review I made consciously. You could simply request again for another reviewer to look. Vanderwaalforces (talk) 13:11, 15 May 2024 (UTC)

Running W/water

Hallo, Did your series of moves/edits actually end up where you intended?

At the moment:

When I saw the start of your series of moves I thought/hoped you were going to move the disambiguation page to Running Water, which seems useful: there are a bunch of places and films with the upper case "W", and it's not a very likely search term for tap water. Was that what you intended, perhaps? (Please?) PamD 18:31, 16 May 2024 (UTC)

Ah, I see that @Bkonrad has intervened and things are looking better. Thanks. PamD 18:35, 16 May 2024 (UTC)
Yes, as I mentioned at my talk page, I'm not sure tap water is the best primary topic for running water, but that has been a redirect since 2005 and likely should have some discussion if there is any change. But as PamD mentions, there is no reason to force readers who intentionally type the capitalized version Running Water to go to some other article before getting to the dab page for entities that are capitalized. olderwiser 18:45, 16 May 2024 (UTC)
@Bkonrad I believe we both have a point. But like I said below, I have no prejudice against keeping it this way. Vanderwaalforces (talk) 18:49, 16 May 2024 (UTC)
@PamD Hi there. Perhaps, Bkonrad has the same thoughts as me "no reason whatsoever to force readers that intentionally type the capitalized version to go to the lower case article". But on the other, what if someone who actually wants Running water, which is a redirect to Tap water, and types "Running Water"?
I have no prejudice against keeping it this way though, but just wanted to point that out. Vanderwaalforces (talk) 18:42, 16 May 2024 (UTC)
There is a link at the top of the dab page which will help that reader. They'll have one extra click, but many other readers will be saved a click. Thanks. PamD 18:49, 16 May 2024 (UTC)
@PamD That's right. Vanderwaalforces (talk) 18:50, 16 May 2024 (UTC)

Thanks for the review

Hello. You’re doing a super amazing job here on Wikipedia.

Many thanks for the review on an article I submitted (Scooby Nero). I’ve been curious as to why the article had not been reviewed but thanks to you, I’ve found some unreliable sources that may have affected the worthiness of the article. Would you mind reviewing the article again after addressing the issues you mentioned? I really hope I get a yes (smiles). Cheers! Mevoelo (talk) 17:45, 17 May 2024 (UTC)

@Mevoelo Hi there, thank you for your contributions too. If your fix is able to establish the subjects notability, then it would be accepted by me or any other reviewer. Pro tip; you do not need to remove the previous AfC review templates from the top of the article, this will allow other reviewer to see what was reviewed and what has changed. Kudos. Vanderwaalforces (talk) 17:52, 17 May 2024 (UTC)
Many thanks for the correction on the AFC review. I’ll keep that in mind. I sincerely didn’t think it was anything. Thanks a lot. Well appreciated! Mevoelo (talk) 17:59, 17 May 2024 (UTC)
Hello. Hope you’re doing great? I have fixed the issues addressed. Here’s it Scooby Nero. I’ll very much appreciate your review on it. Cheers! Mevoelo (talk) 08:13, 18 May 2024 (UTC)

Christian Jung

You rated my article on Christian Jung as of a low standard and a stub. I have to admit that you are perfectly right, and I was conscious that plenty of improvement was needed at the time I created it. So why did I create it? Another editor had included Christian Jung in the List of geneticists, a list that I have been going through systematically in search of errors, missing infoboxes, inappropriate entries, etc. Unfortunately the link given led to the wrong Christian Jung (the politician) and there was no article about the right one. On checking the record of the right one I saw that he is indeed a distinguished scientist (with h = 55) and I thought that an article was definitely needed. So what to do? If no one had bothered to create one before now then I should do it myself, and that is what I did. I was hoping that editors with more knowledge of plant breeding than I have would see it and be encouraged to expand it. So, if I recognize that an article ought to exist how do I set about finding an editor able and willing to do it? Athel cb (talk) 08:43, 20 May 2024 (UTC)

@Athel cb Hello there. Thank you for reaching out and for your contributions to Wikipedia. Creating a stub can indeed be a catalyst for further development, especially for a topic that clearly meets the notability criteria, as evidenced by Christian Jung's h-index of 55 and his Leibniz Prize. It's a constructive way to invite collaboration from other editors who might have the expertise to expand the article with more detailed information and references.
To find an editor with the specific knowledge to enhance the article, you might consider reaching out to other editors through relevant WikiProjects, such as WikiProject Biology or the Science and academia workgroup of WikiProject Biography. These groups often have members with a keen interest and expertise in the subject matter. Additionally, you can tag the article with the {{Germany-scientist-stub}} which can also attract the attention of editors working on Category:German scientist stubs, by the way, I have tagged the article. You can also write a message to those WikiProjects and let them know of the subject you think passes notability criteria and anyone interested will end up creating an article on the subject. Don't forget that every Wikipedia article starts somewhere, and your efforts have laid the groundwork for what could become a comprehensive and informative resource.

Too long

Good day @Vanderwaalforces, its over three months now I guess lol my draft Draft:Ebony Goddess Mystique has been on the review list after making all corrections. Please unreview Turning Point: The Bomb And The Cold War

Thank you for reviewing Turning Point: The Bomb And The Cold War. But, as a main editor/creator I am requesting you to unreview it. The entire page has become a long list of people interviewed. This wasn't what I planned when I started making it. I have asked other editors at the talk page to improve it using the information from the series and the reviews that have pointed out its flaws. If there is no improvement, then I would like to put it back into draft. Charlie (talk) 05:16, 22 May 2024 (UTC)

Bhasha Bicharok Jar

Hello Vanderwaalforces, according to WP:AFDTODRAFT#2, the draftification of Bhasha Bicharok Jar is invalid. Could you kindly revert your non-admin closure so that the deletion discussion can proceed? However, the author has the right to tag their article for deletion under G7, and it's up to the admin to decide whether to delete it or not. Thank you. GSS💬 09:50, 22 May 2024 (UTC)

@GSS Hi there. But I have seen cases where the author draftified such as Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Roberto Vannacci, Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/The Bunker (upcoming film) (2nd nomination), etc. What difference does this one makes please? Vanderwaalforces (talk) 10:03, 22 May 2024 (UTC)
It appears that in the first case, the nominator was in the process of nominating the article when it was draftified "Whoa the page must have been draftified while I was nominating, my mistake. shelovesneo (talk)". In the second case, the author requested draftification "I'm content that the article be moved back to draftspace until new and reliable information about this film is published. The Film Creator (talk)", which is not the case with "Bhasha Bicharok Jar". What you think? GSS💬 10:09, 22 May 2024 (UTC)
In the second case where the author requested draftification, it is just the same as this case where the author draftified it themself. I do not see an exact problem with the author moving this particular article to draft while at AfD, but in any case, per AFDTODRAFT, you should inform the author who moved the page while at AfD to either move the page back to mainspace or you move it back yourself, which I am not sure of, so that I can undo my closure, either will work. Overall, I do not see a serious problem with this because like I said, I have seen plenty cases like this even recently. Vanderwaalforces (talk) 10:28, 22 May 2024 (UTC)
Yeah, but these seem like easy tactics to circumvent the deletion process. Anyways, I've left a message on their talk page asking them to revert their move. If they don't, I will nominate the draft for deletion instead. GSS💬 10:36, 22 May 2024 (UTC)
That makes more sense. I mean, MfD. But let's see if they'd move it back first. Vanderwaalforces (talk) 10:45, 22 May 2024 (UTC)

Tupocracy

I didn't want to mention this on the article's talk page, at least yet, but see Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Politics#Tupocracy. Doug Weller talk 13:03, 22 May 2024 (UTC)

@Doug Weller Perhaps, the community needs to decide on what to do with the article. Vanderwaalforces (talk) 13:22, 22 May 2024 (UTC)
I agree. If no one else does I'll take it to AfD. I'm hoping someone else will, I've got stuff more important for me to do and sadly not a lot of time left to do those things. I keep getting distracted by nonsense. Doug Weller talk 13:44, 22 May 2024 (UTC)
@Doug Weller I'm so sorry about the latter. Yeah, it better be AfDed. I will leave it for someone else to nominate so that I can see what they have to say about it, lol. Thank you for despite the distractions, you're still a great admin! screams great admin. Vanderwaalforces (talk) 13:48, 22 May 2024 (UTC)
