Many thanks. I have quite a lot of info on the PAF in WWII from my father, including pics from Bindizi etc. Sine these are personal photos can they be included if I wanted to, or does it require additional copyright support? --Vumba 17:40, 7 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

If they are your personal property and were not made by, say, some war correspondent who later mailed them to your late dad, then it's up to you whether you want to share them with the community - and under what license. BTW, you might want to take a look at my granddad in his shining Vickers E :) I chose GFDL for that photo, but you might as well pick any other license, provided it's a free one. I guess such pics could be a great addition to our series of articles on Polish Air Forces, but also on the Warsaw Uprising. What Squadron was your dad a part of? Was he part of the Polish Air Forces, RAF, USAAF or SAAF? Two months ago I was invited for a promo of a book on South Africans above Warsaw in 1944.. Two vets from South Africa were invited and lots of local veterans of the Home Army came in as well. It was one of the most touching promo I've ever seen. One of the airmen, with tears in his eyes, said something along the lines of I know that we were dropping the supplies from high altitude and barely any reached your line, but please allow me to think that mine get there. Then one of the Polish vets stood up and told a story of how did it feel to see allied planes above. And he concluded with something like It doesn't matter if your supply drop reached us or not. You all delivered us hope, and that's what counted the most.

Ridgebacks in Shona[edit]

Hiya - I studied Shona at school, and I'm pretty sure that 'lion' and 'dog' are 'shumba' and 'imbwa' respectively, so I changed the Rhodesian Ridgeback page to reflect this - can you verify?

Shumba is indeed lion in Shona. Simba is lion in other more northern Bantu root languages such as Bemba in Zambia and Tanganyika and I believe in Swahili. Inja we used in Zambia>

Kurnatowski[edit]

I hope you don't mind, but I returned the information about the Calvinist Kurnatowski. I know that some members of the family feel embarrassed by it, but in fact until the late 1890s 4 out 5 main lines of the family were always Calvinist, including the father of the first Papal count (!), and the disputed Count Eryk Kurnatowski. The number of Calvinist clergy (I have info on) comes close to 20. in fact, the Kurnatowskis were known exactly because of their Protestantism.

Since I see that you wanted the info on the Catholics, I added that the Dusina line was always Roman Catholic.

Shona spoken in Zambia[edit]

Vumba, the problem with the Zambia article whihc you amended was that it gave the impression that the Albany list of 78 languages appeared to be 'official' when it's just one researcher's list and he missed the Shona language off it. However I don't think it's right to list Shona with the other languages named in the article as they are intended to be the main ones, and according to Ethnologue, only 0.26% of Zambians speak Shona. Instead, I suggest the list of 78 languages be de-emphasised and balanced by Ethnologue's list which does include Shona, and so I've amended it like so. I hope that this meets with your agreement.
