Elephant.se not reliable??

Could I please ask you what, in your view, makes my website www.elephant.se, not reliable? Contrary to your opinion, it is used as reference for researchers of elephant herpes from teams both in Europe and USA, and last year was referenced as source, for the publication on human cancer, compared to elephant Potential Mechanisms for Cancer Resistance in Elephants and Comparative Cellular Response to DNA Damage in Humans, and I was in fact awarded a prize, initiated by the researchers. The website is resource and source for numerous articles about elephants, also on Wikipedia, although not always mentioned. Elephant.se is the main resource and source for the Wikipedia article about Elephant_endotheliotropic_herpesvirus (the first source mentioned, with 16 notes!!) and is according to elephant specialist veterinaries and experts a unique resource. Of course, being the largest elephant database in the world and on the entire Internet, and possibly the largest database in the available online, about individuals from a certain species, it may include some errors. It is an ongoing project to correct those, but in general it is normally viewed as a very reliable source, and is with ist over 1000 visitors/24 hours maybe the most trafficked elephant website, keeping in mind that the interest in individuals, is and will remain, a very specific field, which does not attract the majority, therefore a very narrow subject. Still considered this, it has a large number of visits.

I was just on the way to suggest the website to be described in a Wikipedia article, and when I saw your comment, which you made at Thechikottukavu Ramachandran, I became rather disappointed, and asked myself why I have invested 20 years of work, when it gets such a poor credit from another Wikipedia user? As being maybe the only website in this topic, which always cites sources for each records etc, I would have thought that the other sources mentioned on that article, would be ranked pretty much lower in reliability, than a life work done by a professional with +40 years experience of elephants, having a network of some 500 people who report about individuals directly to me, and being cited by, and used in publications worldwide as well as by the EEP and SSP studbooks.

Theres nothing similar existing in this world, and therefore even difficult to compare with similar websites, because there are only a few, and most of them actually started by using my material: http://www.asianelephant.net/ was based on the excel file I had on elephant.se before I created the real MySQL database, http://www.elefanten-fotolexikon.eu/index.php?lang=en was also based on my records, and as confirmation for this, every single record about an elephant has a link to elephant.se. http://elefanten.wikia.com/wiki/Hauptseite was not totally build from using the material from elephant.se but quite a lot, and I have cooperation with the admins on this project, reg cross linking. None of these three websites has as many elephants as I have recorded, since my records date back to the 37 elephants used by Hannibal, and I have records from about 85% of the dead historical circus elephants between 1800-1950, in a unique collection, never ever presented on one place in this quantity.

I have updated the content of my website since 2006, and programmed php script totally by myself. I have even contacted th EEP and SSP studbooks coordinators in Eurpe and US and they have later corrected the studbooks according to my references.

I ask you kindly to evaluate the website once more, and hopefully reconsider your comment at Thechikottukavu_Ramachandran and other places where you may have left similar remarks. And if you after a reevaluation agree that this website is by far more reliable than most similar available on the Internet, I ask you even to consider support the creation of an article about the website, so it can be officially used on more places on Wikipedia, where it has been without doubt, used as source for articles, but for some reason were never mentioned as such.

With best regards, webmaster of elephant.se, the oldest information website on the Internet, started 1995.
