Image change on Afro article[edit]

Hello Zmenglish,

I noted you replaced an image on the Afro article with another image that you had uploaded to Wikimedia Commons and yet you did not provide any rationale for replacing the previous image. The previous image has been on this article for several years and I would argue that your image is no more exemplary of a "Jewfro" than the original image. It is for these reasons that I have reverted your edit.

In the future, please provide an edit summary in the field provided, especially when replacing or removing properly sourced and relevant content.

However, I do not want to discourage you from adding images to Wikipedia. There certainly have many articles lacking images on this site. The Afro article, however, is not one of them.

Cheers! --Marchijespeak/peek 15:10, 10 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Zmenglish. You have new messages at Marchije's talk page.
You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.

Hello Zmenglish,

I have also noticed that you have changed the image of a "Jewfro" on the Afro page several times. The previous image has been on the page for around 8 years unaltered, and is used on other 'hairstyle' themed articles across the Wikimedia site. I agree with user Marchije's assessment that the new image does not provide a more exemplary description of the "Jewfro" concept, and I have reverted your edit as well.

In the future, when uploading images to Wikimedia Commons, please try to identify articles in which image additions can help serve as an improvement to the quality of article. Pure aesthetic changes on well established pages do not help maintain and improve a high standard of quality across Wikimedia.

Thank you! Wiki1259speak/peek 2:40, 24 January 2016 (UTC)

January 2016[edit]

Information icon Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. You appear to be engaged in an edit war with one or more editors according to your reverts at Afro. Although repeatedly reverting or undoing another editor's contributions may seem necessary to protect your preferred version of a page, on Wikipedia this is usually seen as obstructing the normal editing process, and often creates animosity between editors. Instead of edit warring, please discuss the situation with the editor(s) involved and try to reach a consensus on the talk page.

If editors continue to revert to their preferred version they are likely to lose editing privileges. This isn't done to punish an editor, but to prevent the disruption caused by edit warring. In particular, editors should be aware of the three-revert rule, which says that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Edit warring on Wikipedia is not acceptable in any amount, and violating the three-revert rule is very likely to lead to a loss of editing privileges. Thank you. ☾Loriendrew☽ (ring-ring) 02:56, 25 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Afro. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Please be particularly aware that Wikipedia's policy on edit warring states:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made.
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes; work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. ☾Loriendrew☽ (ring-ring) 01:18, 28 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Edit warring at Afro[edit]

Stop icon with clock
You have been blocked from editing for a period of 24 hours for edit warring. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions. If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you may appeal this block by first reading the guide to appealing blocks, then adding the following text to the bottom of your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.

During a dispute, you should first try to discuss controversial changes and seek consensus. If that proves unsuccessful, you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection.

Dispute resolution[edit]

Hello! There is a DR/N request you may have interest in.[edit]

This message is being sent to let you know of a discussion at the Wikipedia:Dispute resolution noticeboard regarding a content dispute discussion you may have participated in. Content disputes can hold up article development and make editing difficult for editors. You are not required to participate, but you are both invited and encouraged to help this dispute come to a resolution. Please join us to help form a consensus. Thank you!
