We are in search of folks who are excited about archives, activism and the African diaspora to help us in our ongoing effort to fill gaps in the art historical record! Ideal candidates have a vested interest in community organizing, library science, and art, excellent organizational skills and an eagerness to learn on the job.

Interested applicants for the Regional Proxy positions should reside/work outside of Chicago/northern midwest and New York/northeast.


Wikipedia Regional Proxy

Seeking Wikipedia Regional Proxies for the Black Lunch Table.  We are hiring editors based outside of the New York/northeast and Chicago/Northern midwest areas. The role of the proxy is to help establish Black Lunch Table’s (BLT) Wikipedia initiative in their own community, through hosting three Wikipedia edit-a-thon events annually, developing the local editorship via training and support, and developing institutional outreach and partnerships. The proxy will also be responsible for reporting finances and metrics for their events to the BLT team.


The Regional Proxy would ideally be an experienced and active Wikipedia editor, eager, organized and a quick learner.  Those lacking editing experience, but have vested interest in community organizing, library science, and art are also encouraged to apply. Applicants should be excited about archives, activism and the African diaspora.


Responsibilities include :

  • Develop outreach to local organizations and groups not affiliated with Black Lunch Table events.
  • Host 3 edit-a-thons in their communities before June 2019
  • Maintain relationships with local editors
  • Work with BLT to develop outreach and research methods
  • Oversee the development and execution of events in their specific region.
  • Potentially organize and lead trainings for event organizers in their regions.

Additional responsibilities and tasks may include organizing with BLT to generate best practices documents, collaborating with other regional Wiki projects, generating more shareable content on training and organizational tips.
