Preparing your course page

To create a structured course page, you'll need to prepare the course page content — such as a general description of the course and a timeline of the assignment plan — and you'll need the course instructor right for your Wikipedia account. (If you go to Special:Institutions and see the option to "Add a new institution", then your account already has the necessary rights.)

At this end of this training, you can launch the Assignment Design Wizard to create a template based on your input, complete with up-to-date links to resources for you and your students, arranged to reflect the best practices for the Wikipedia assignments you want to do. You can further customize this template to match your particular course topics, readings, or other needs.

After that, you will have instructions for posting a message about your course and requesting the course instructor user right. Wikipedians may offer feedback on your assignment plan, and you may be asked to revise it if your plan goes against best practices for Wikipedia assignments. It may be somewhere between a few minutes and a few days before your request gets processed.
