• I created & updated the event page for the Spy Week 2016 editathon

• I created four 'Getting Started with Wikipedia' Training sessions for staff & students on Edinburgh University's booking system (two at Edinburgh College of Art on 26th April and two at Edinburgh University Main Library on 28th April).
• I created two Wiki Meetups: one in Glasgow on 30th April and one in Edinburgh on 5th May.
• I created an OER16 editathon for OER16 delegates here.

G1: Develop Open Knowledge	Be an advocate or open knowledge within the University's collections and community, which would enrich Wikipedia and sister projects and enhance the University's role in open knowledge and public engagement. Identify opportunities for content improvement and image releases.
G2a: Develop, involve & engage WMUK volunteers	Organise and host workshops for University staff, students and public to enable them to directly contribute their knowledge and expertise to develop Wikipedia articles.

Outcomes

This month has been a slightly shorter one given that I took some annual leave for one week from 4th April to 11th April 2016. It has also been one reflecting on past editathons &, in particular, methods of promotion & engagement with staff & students at the university as well as with members of the wider Wiki community. As such I have attended & booked in future meetings to discuss best practice for promoting events and engagement with Student Associations (EUSA)and the Institute for Academic Development (IAD) and contacted other organisations and community groups (such as the university's Alumni office and International Office). I have also made preparations for two editathons (one on 13-14 April for Spy Week 2016 and one on 19-20 April for the OER16 Conference). I have also planned in 4 Wikipedia training sessions for staff and students at the Edinburgh University Library and Edinburgh College of Art. I have also planned in two Wiki meetups to engage the wider Scots Wiki community (one in Glasgow on 30th April and one in Edinburgh on 5th May). I presented at the Edinburgh College of Art's Learning & Teaching Fair meeting on 22nd March 2016 to contribute to volunteer engagement and make the assembled audience aware how easy it is to edit, what the residency is all about & past achievements and to also stimulate interest in future collaborations such as an editathon for the Festival of Architecture 2016. I have continued my Skype sessions with Navino Evans, co-founder of Histropedia, to appraise myself of Wikidata and Histropedia. I also conversed with, Richard Nevell of WMUK, Kelly Doyle, Wikimedian in Residence at West Virginia University, and Alexandra Oliver, art critic & co-ordinator of the successful Art+Feminism event at the University of Pittsburgh, in order to share good practice. I have also sounded out like-minded learning technologists & librarians/digital curators to see if there would be interest in them becoming trained as a Wikipedia trainer/'ambassador' or 'champion'. I have had positive feedback on this so will move forward and plan in a session to do just this. Finally, I have researched and created a document, 'Wikipedia & Academic Research', which advises researchers & academics how best to engage with Wikipedia. As a result of presenting this to Fraser Muir, CIO of College of Humanities and Social Science I will now be presenting to a group of CHSS academics on Friday 15th April how to engage with Wikipedia in order to make best use of altmetrics.

Partnerships

• Arranged meetings with Karen Gregory, lecturer in Digital Sociology, for late April 2016. Karen and Anouk Lang are involved with the Digital Day of Ideas 2016 event.(Digital Day of Ideas)
• Arranged future meetings at the University of Edinburgh Vet school and Chris Harlow of Reproductive Medicine to proceed with a couple of editathon ideas for their respective departments.
• Arranged meeting with Sara Thomas (Museums & Galleries of Scotland) and Gill Hamilton (National Library of Scotland) for 26th April 2016 to discuss a Wikimedia collaboration for the relaunch of the Kelvinhall site in Glasgow, potentially involving the NLS Moving Picture Archive.
• Arranged meeting for early May to meet with Joe Marshall (Head of Special Collections and the Centre for Research Collections) and his team.
• Met with Jo Holtan and Silje Graffer of the Institute of Academic Development to discuss future collaborations throughout the residency as they did such a terrific job or organising & promoting Innovative Learning Week at the university in February.
• Partnered with Alice Kelly and Marco Polvara to help prepare an editathon for Spy Week 2016. Penny Fielding, Head of English Literature at Edinburgh University, was keen for Wikimedia UK involvement and would be interested in future partnerships on Robert Louis Stevenson or Edinburgh Gothic in future.
• Partnered with Fiona Hale of the PgCAP course to embed Wikipedia within the course design for this year and future years.
• Partnered with Sian Bayne & Christine Sinclair of the Digital Education MSc course to see if Wikipedia training can be embedded in their course design.

Projects Delivered

The third month has been spent preparing for Wikipedia editathon events for Spy Week 2016 and for OER 16. It has also been spent liaising with a variety of individuals & departments to:
a) ensure promotion of events is done correctly.
b) ensure we have projects, editathons, Wiki meetups & training sessions lined up for the rest of the residency.

As a result, I have prepared a number of events & meetings lined up for the months ahead along these lines. I also attended the Rufus Pollock lecture on Open Knowledge on 16th March 2016.

I also made contact with Pittsburgh University Library, the Art Gallery of Ontario and Kelly Doyle, Wikimedian in Residence for Gender Equity at West Virginia University in order to share good practice gleaned from our recent experiences of the Art+Feminism Wikiproject.

Projects in Development

• '150 years since the foundation of Regius Chair of Engineering' - Professor Gordon Masterton at the School of Engineering has contacted me about a possible collaboration.
• 'International alumni - Vice Principal (International), James Smith, has been authorised to erect a number of blue plaques celebrating the contribution of Edinburgh University's international alumni on the international stage. I have been tasked with identifying suitably notable subjects for our historians to investigate & help create articles on.
• 'Digital day of Ideas - proposed for 18th May 2016.
• Vet School editing training for Staff CPD - mooted for Summer 2016.
  
• Vet School editathon for students - mooted for Autumn 2016.
• Eurostemcell editathon - Booked in for 11th May 2016 with the Edinburgh University Medical School.
• PgCAP Wikipedia editathon - Training and editathon planned in for start of June 2016 for academic staff undertaking the PgCAP teaching qualification for Higher Education level.
• Digital Education Msc - Discussions to take place next month about how to embed an element of Wikipedia training within this course.
• National Library of Scotland - Kelvinhall relaunch Wikimedia event - To be confirmed.

A mooted event for September/October time which will cover art, architecture, music, literature, film. A contact within the English Literature department, Penny Fielding, has been identified to liaise with on this topic. Gill Hamilton at the National Library of Scotland is also interested in collaborating on this project.

• Robert Louis Stevenson Day editathon

A mooted event for November 2016 - a contact within the English Literature department has been identified to liaise with on this topic. (Given the amount of information on Robert Louis Stevenson's page this may be combined with Edinburgh Gothic.)

• Translate-a-thon - Reaching out to international students to translate articles from English Wikipedia to their own native language Wikipedia.

- Have contacted a number of people at the International Office to see if we can identify how best to contact our bilingual & multilingual students here.

• Festival of Architecture 2016 - Have contacted a number of people at the Edinburgh College of Art about potentially running an architecture-themed editathon to celebrate the Festival of Architecture 2016.
• Day of the Dead - An editathon for Halloween 2016 celebrating the lives of those who have passed on through creating Wikipedia pages utilising obituaries from Scottish newspaper archives.
