Existing article summary has only 2 sentences, one of which is about reputed crossdressing.  Edward Hyde is more than a crossdresser.  How do I add a more comprehensive, fact-based summary?  The body of the existing article has only two subsections:  "Career" and "Reputation".   "Career" describes Cornbury's entire life in 5 short paragraphs.  One paragraph summarizes his entire administration as Governor of New York, mentioning only his bad reputation without references.  The larger "Reputation" section lists only the reasons for his bad reputation.

My opinion is that the current article needs to be deleted because it's incomplete, non-factual, unreferenced, and defamatory. The current article should be replaced with an article that resolves these problems, which I have submitted (see sandbox).

I submitted an article Draft:Queer (musical); however, it It was recently reviewed and unfortunately was declined because it did not appear to be written in the formal tone expected of an encyclopedia article. I would greatly appreciate the assistance of KGirlTrucker81 or any other contributor in helping to sculpt the article in a more neutral point of view. Thank you in advance. Hi MissHazelJade. The draft's problems go deeper than tone. It needs multiple, in-depth, independent, reliable sources to establish the notability of the topic. What the draft cites are the show's website (not-independent), a press release (not-independent), and another show's website (for a sentence that is off-topic and probably doesn't belong in the draft at all).
To get a feeling for appropriate tone (and the sort of sources to look for), study some of Wikipedia's best writing about musicals: Carousel, Pipe Dream, and A Very Merry Unauthorized Children's Scientology Pageant. --Worldbruce (talk) 13:24, 26 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi RKK4409 The presence or absence of photos will have no effect on whether or not the draft is accepted, so I strongly advise you to focus on referencing and postpone photos until much later.
With regard to a picture of the artist, unless you took the photo (and thus hold the copyright), it probably can't be used in the draft. With regard to pictures of his art, they may not be used in the draft because the artist holds the copyright. The rules change if and when the draft becomes an article. At that point it may be possible to add an image of the artist and/or their art under the fair use exemption, but numerous conditions must be met. Adding an image is a two step process: first upload it, then use it in on a page.
Go to Commons:First steps and carefully step through the tutorial. When you get to "First steps/Uploading files", don't dive in too hastily. First follow the link on that page to learn about the different licensing options. Other useful advance reading includes Wikipedia:File names and Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Images, which will prepare you to answer important questions the upload wizard will ask you. If after that you have any questions or doubts, there is a dedicated help desk for image uploading.

Hello: I am working on my FIRST Wikipedia article...so I am new to this world (although not to writing). Is it possible for me to insert some pictures that I have permission to display? Or am I not eligible yet?...this seems to improve the article. --Lak2017

Hi Lak2017. Welcome to Wikipedia! Writing a new article is one of the most challenging things an editor can do here.
The draft is well researched and well written, exhibiting just the sort of skills Wikipedia needs in editors, but the topic may not be suitable for the encyclopedia. To clear Wikipedia's bar of notability, an organization is expected to have received significant coverage by international or national, or at least regional, media (see WP:AUD). The sources cited in the draft all appear to be local. If The Globe and Mail, say, or perhaps a national literary magazine, has profiled the group, then it would qualify for inclusion. If it can't be included in Wikipedia, you could explore alternative outlets that welcome content of local interest.
With regard to your specific question, unless you took the photographs yourself (and thus hold the copyright), using them on Wikipedia can be difficult or impossible. Fundamentally, adding a photo is a two step process: first upload it, then use it in on a page.

@StillEvolving: There's nothing wrong with the format of your references- I think that the problem is that in the 'background' section of your article, several claims remain not backed up by references e.g. where he completed his education etc. This is particularly of importance as the article is a biography of a living person and we try to ensure that claims are backed up to avoid potential libel etc. so we are stricter on these types of articles. Hi, I just tried to write an article about Dirk van den Boom, a German science fiction author. He recently received one of the most prestigious awards for German science fiction (admitted there aren't that many awards) and I thought he should have an article. However, apparently I'm German and my language might need some improvement. Furthermore, it has been a while since I edited Wikipedia and I have no idea how to link to the German article. Would be great if someone could check the article.

The Deutscher Science Fiction Preis is significant, at least within the German-speaking science fiction community, but it's difficult for me to judge whether it is well-known enough to satisfy the WP:ANYBIO notability criteria. The draft cites two university bio pages and two prize-awarding organizations, all of which are reliable, but have an interest in making the people they profile look good. The draft's other two sources look like fan sites that may not be reliable sources. Can you cite any reviews of his work or coverage of his winning the prize in more mainstream newspapers and magazines? Does he have an entry in Kürschners Deutscher Literatur-Kalender 2016.2017? That might be another way to show that he meets WP:ANYBIO.
