This happened in 1927/1928.

  • SR-1: replaced SR-15 from Girard to Seale, SR-14 from Seale to Dothan, and SR-7 from Dothan to Florida; rerouted over SR-37 from Oxford to Opelika and the old route became SR-11 from Oxford to Sylacauga and SR-21 from Sylacauga to Opelika; in 1930/1931, SR-1 was shifted back to its previous route from Oxford to Opelika, and the old route was changed back to SR-37
  • SR-2: replaced SR-3 from Mississippi to Tennessee
    • Former SR-2: became SR-7 from Livingston to Epes, SR-39 from Epes to Clinton, SR-40 from Clinton to Eutaw, and SR-7 from Eutaw to Georgia
  • SR-3: replaced SR-7 from Tennessee to Montgomery and SR-23 from Montgomery to Evergreen, SR-24 from Evergreen to Brewton, SR-9 from Brewton to Loxley; designated on a new route from Loxley to Foley in exchange for deletion of SR-62
    • Former SR-3: became SR-2 from Mississippi to Tennessee
  • SR-4: replaced SR-51 from Mississippi to Hamilton, SR-5 from Hamilton to Guin, SR-8 from Guin to Pell City, SR-40 from Pell City to Anniston, overlapped SR-1 and SR-11 from Anniston to Oxford, and replaced SR-8 from Oxford to Georgia
    • Former SR-4: became SR-9 from Heflin to Montgomery
  • SR-5: replaced SR-50 from Tennessee to Florence, old SR-5 from Florence to Phil Campbell, SR-43 from Phil Campbell to Jasper, SR-8 from Jasper to Birmingham, SR-2 from Birmingham to near Woodstock, SR-35 from near Woodstock to Safford, and SR-6 from Safford to Mobile
    • Former SR-5: became SR-34 from Tennessee to Florence, new SR-5 from Florence to Phil Campbell, SR-13 from Phil Campbell to Hamilton, SR-4 from Hamilton to Guin, SR-19 from Guin to Vernon, and SR-18 from Vernon to Mississippi
  • SR-6: replaced SR-32 from Mississippi to Tuscaloosa; designated a new route from Tuscaloosa to Prattville; replaced SR-7 from Prattville to near Downing, SR-15 from Downing to Union Springs, SR-16 from Union Springs to Midway, followed a new route from Midway to Eufaula, and replaced SR-16 from Eufaula to Georgia
    • Former SR-6: SR-22 from Selma to Safford and SR-5 from Safford to Mobile
  • SR-7: replaced SR-2 from Livingston to Epes; designated on a new route (bypass) from Epes to Eutaw; and replaced SR-2 from Eutaw to Georgia; SR-7 overlapped SR-8 from Livingston to Mississippi
    • Former SR-7: became SR-3 from Tennessee to Montgomery, SR-53 from Montgomery to Dothan, and SR-1 from Dothan to Florida
    • SR-7E: became SR-45 from Verbena to Montgomery
    • SR-7W: became SR-9 from Montgomery to Ada and was decommissioned entirely from Ada to Orion
  • SR-8: replaced SR-26 from Mississippi to Georgia
    • Former SR-8: became SR-4 from Guin to Pell City, SR-48 from Pell City to Talladega, SR-11 from Talladega to Anniston, and SR-4 from Oxford to Georgia
  • SR-9: replaced SR-4 from Heflin to Montgomery and SR-7W from Montgomery to Ada and became SR-12 from Andalusia to Brewton and SR-3 from Brewton to Loxley
  • SR-10: replaced SR-29 from Mississippi to Butler; designated on a new route from Butler to Camden; replaced SR-12 from Camden to Luverne, SR-58 from Luverne to Troy, a new route (bypass of old SR-7 west of Brundidge) from Troy to Abbeville, and SR-22 from Abbeville to Georgia
    • Former SR-10: became SR-12 from Mississippi to east of Mobile and SR-16 from Mobile to Florida
  • SR-11: replaced SR-46 from Georgia to Anniston, SR-1 from Anniston to Sylacauga, and SR-39 from Sylacauga to Rockford; designated on new route from Rockford to Wetumpka
    • Former SR-11: became SR-15 from Georgia to Banks
  • SR-12: replaced SR-10 from Mississippi to Mobile; designated on a new route from Mobile to Bay Minette; replaced SR-9 from Bay Minette to Andalusia, SR-17 from Andalusia to Samson, and SR-20 from Samson to Georgia
    • Former SR-12: became SR-28 from Linden to Camden and SR-10 from Camden to Luverne
  • SR-13: replaced SR-5 from Phil Campbell to Guin, SR-8 from Guin to Winfield, SR-33 from Winfield to Moundville, a new route from Moundville to Demopolis, and SR-30 from Demopolis to Thomasville
    • Former SR-13: became SR-11 from Camden to Uriah and SR-59 from Uriah to Bay Minette
  • SR-14: completely new route from Selma to Auburn
    • Former SR-14: became SR-1 from Seale to Dothan
  • SR-15: replaced SR-11 from Georgia to Banks, SR-7 from Banks to Troy, and SR-18 from Troy to Florida
    • Former SR-15: became SR-6 from Downing to Union Springs, SR-26 from Union Springs to Seale, and SR-1 from Seale to Girard
  • SR-16: replaced SR-10 from Mobile to Florida

    • Former SR-27: became SR-29 from Butler to Wagar and decommissioned in exchange for creating SR-29 from Butler to Coatopa
  • SR-28: replaced SR-12 from Linden to Camden
    • Former SR-28: became SR-57 from Mississippi to Mobile
  • SR-29: designated on a new route in exchange for deleting old SR-27 from Cuba to Pushmataha and replaced old SR-29 from Pushmataha to Butler and SR-27 from Butler to Wagar
    • Former SR-29: became SR-10 from Mississippi to Butler
  • SR-30: replaced SR-21 from Ariton to Clayton and SR-16 from Clayton to Eufaula

  • SR-38: completely new route from Huntsville to Oneonta
    • Former SR-38: became SR-50 from Camp Hill to Lanett
  • SR-39: replaced SR-7 from Epes to Clinton
    • Former SR-39: became SR-11 from Sylacauga to Rockford and SR-22 from Rockford to Nixburg
  • SR-40: replaced SR-57 from Aliceville to Clinton and SR-2 from Clinton to Eutaw; designated on a new route from Eutaw to Demopolis
    • Former SR-40: became SR-4 from Pell City to Anniston
  • SR-41: designated on a new route from Eutaw to Wedgeworth; replaced SR-33 from Wedgeworth to Greensboro; designated on a new route from Greensboro to Marion
    • Former SR-41: became SR-20 from Tuscumbia to Decatur, SR-3 from Decatur to Hartselle and SR-33 from Hartselle to Warrenton
  • SR-42: replaced SR-25 from Mississippi to Mobile

  • SR-57: replaced SR-28 from Mississippi to Mobile
    • Former SR-57: became SR-40 from Aliceville to Clinton
  • SR-58: replaced SR-53 from near Valley Head to Georgia
    • Former SR-58: became SR-10 from Luverne to Troy
  • SR-59: replaced SR-13 from Uriah to Bay Minette
