Merge proposal[edit]

@EmeraldRange: I propose merging Ta'ang National Liberation Army into Palaung State Liberation Front. I think the existence of two separate pages is irrelevant since the two structures are basically the same organization by a different name. News articles and academic sources don't distinguish them. I think it would be more relevant to treat the TNLA within the main PSLF article rather than the other way around, since the PSLF preexisted the TNLA creation by several years. Maybe the title of the article could be changed to Palaung State Liberation Front/Ta'ang National Liberation Army to make it clearer.Khiêm1 (talk) 19:28, 31 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Merge into one article- there is a lot written here about the governance but as far as I could check, most sources do not talk about the PSLF beyond brief mentions. Most sources, including the ones cited on this article refer to it primarily as the Ta'ang National Liberation Army so it does not make sense to merge TNLA into the PSLF. Thank you for your answer. Most sources indeed only mention the TNLA but because the two structures are so closely intertwined I think it would be preferable to consider both of them together (a bit like how it was done for the Turkish DHKP/C, where the "political wing" and the "armed wing" are explained in a single page). That's why I also suggest changing the page name to "PSLF/TNLA" or maybe "TNLA (PSLF)" (like it has been done for the Shan State Army – North). What's more, the group uses the name "PSLF/TNLA" in all its official communications (for example here) and statements so it seems relevant to reflects the fact that even them don't make this distinction. But I do get your point and I would be interested to maybe have third opinions on this. Khiêm1 (talk) 09:31, 1 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
No we should use the WP:COMMONNAME if it is merged. EmeraldRange (talk/contribs) 15:44, 1 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
