VárhegyCastle Hill (Buda) – Clearer name for the English language wiki --evrik (talk) 16:55, 2 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Use multi-RM for closely related proposals like this. Please undo these two and start over before they get any votes besides mine. Dicklyon (talk) 17:26, 2 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Evrik: this action is for you. Dicklyon (talk) 17:27, 2 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • @Dicklyon: I have never done that, could you please do it, and I will learn. :-) Thanks. --evrik (talk) 20:28, 2 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Evrik: Just copy the template at Wikipedia:Requested_moves#Requesting_multiple_page_moves and fill in the names and rationale. You'll learn faster that way. Dicklyon (talk) 22:23, 2 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. Can't see any reason for this. "Clearer name for the English language wiki" is not a valid reason to move. -- Necrothesp (talk) 16:17, 3 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
    • Try a google search on "Castle Hill (Buda)" and you will see that this is what it is referred to in English. --evrik (talk) 16:30, 3 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
      • First, that's not what your nomination said. Second, reliable English-language sources use both forms. -- Necrothesp (talk) 17:51, 3 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose until the 2 similar requests are similarly corrected and merged into a multi-RM worthy of editors' attention. Dicklyon (talk) 16:58, 3 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
    • As you said elsewhere, this is per WP:CRITERIA, the relevant criterion is WP:RECOGNIZABILITY, which is supported by WP:COMMONNAME. I'm not inclined to go back and restart this anew. --evrik (talk) 17:06, 3 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
      • That's up to you. But you've got too different/incompatible proposals going on similar situations, and you're not likely to attract a lot of participation to both. I've suggested how you can improve your chance of getting to your desired outcome. Dicklyon (talk) 19:38, 3 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

VárhegyCastle Hill (Buda) – Clearer name for the English language wiki, this is per WP:CRITERIA, the relevant criterion is WP:RECOGNIZABILITY, which is supported by WP:COMMONNAME --evrik (talk) 04:12, 6 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support As nominator. --evrik (talk) 13:18, 6 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose per previous RM. No evidence this name is the common one. "Clearer name for the English language wiki" is not a valid criterion. We do not translate everything into English for the sake of it. -- Necrothesp (talk) 12:29, 6 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose no evidence this name is the common name—blindlynx 17:58, 6 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment: I provided evidence above. What evidence you you require? --evrik (talk) 04:34, 7 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose As Várhegy is widely used in English-language sources. Use of Castle Hill is often interchangeable in coverage. Given we have many articles on places named Castle Hill, using Várhegy here is also natural disambiguation. AusLondonder (talk) 14:49, 7 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment: Could you please document that? This goes against what was posted by Piotrus above. Thanks. --evrik (talk) 15:29, 7 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • The onus is on you as nom to show that your proposed title is common name as opposed to the current one—blindlynx 16:53, 7 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Did you know nomination[edit]

{{Did you know nominations/Castle Hill (Buda)}}

The nomination should use Várhegy instead of Castle Hill until the RM has been successful, if it is. AusLondonder (talk) 14:51, 7 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

References[edit]

Evrik, please could you add some more references to the paragraph starting "At the beginning of the 18th century" as the reference at the end only covers Miklós Ybl? Did "the Austrian military command [take] its place" in 1849, as Buda Castle suggests? TSventon (talk) 15:10, 7 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • I can't find an English language source for that sentence. However, I have reworded it. this source should cover most of the paragraph: "The History of the Site". The Castle of Buda.. --evrik (talk) 15:28, 7 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
